This time, Delhi and its adjoining areas witnessed severe air quality days. The air quality in Delhi continued to drop and caught some political heat ups. After reeling under the 'severe' category, the pollution levels in Delhi have returned to ‘very poor’ category during the morning hours on Wednesday with the air quality index reading 303 at 08:30 am. The PM 2.5 and PM 10 came down with a change in wind direction from west to northwest.

While, these PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels are anticipated to rise gradually, but the pollution will stay under control for the next few days. Yet it is expected to hit the ‘severe’ category.

The air quality across the national capital worsened on Saturday afternoon; however, it has improved significantly on Tuesday. This could be attributed to the increase in wind speed that flushed out the moisture trapping the pollutants, paving way for clear sky.

The pollution levels in areas such as Anand Vihar, RK Puram, and Delhi Technological University that had hit the severe category on Monday, has improved and returned to the 'very poor' levels. Though the quality of air still remains a major concern.

In addition to this, maximum temperatures have also increased. In the last 24 hours, Palam Observatory recorded 28.2°C, which is three degrees below the normal levels.

As of now, as the moisture has decreased, only smoke and haze will prevail over the region during the morning and night hours.
